Christian Science has been a part of the San Jacinto
Valley since 1909. In 1914 a small Society was
incorporated in accordance with the laws of California. The Society was reorganized into a branch church of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, Massachusetts, in 1948. As the congregation grew, and needed room to accommodate the growing membership, the Church as we see it today, at the corner of Acacia Avenue and Santa Fe Street, was built in 1957.

This Church is one of the world-wide branches of The Mother Church in Boston, Massachusetts and holds Sunday worship services, Sunday School instruction for youth, and Wednesday evening testimonial meetings each week. The Church, also, supports a Reading Room in downtown Hemet on Harvard Street.

The study of Christian Science as explained in the book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures written by the founder and discoverer of this religion, Mary Baker Eddy, explains what this church’s purpose is in the Manual of The Mother Church as “… a church designed to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing.”
